Who are we, what do we do?

Detonation Records is a not-for-profit, D.I.Y. record label based in Cardiff.  We work with bands, venues and spaces to put on frequent and innovative events that help create a diverse and inclusive scene in South Wales. We support Welsh punk bands break the “circuit” of local venues and get on line-ups and shows outside of Wales whilst being a bridge to the wider UK punk scene encouraging bands to cross the border.

We also offer reasonably priced backline hire for gigs in Mad Dog Brewery.

What We Stand For:

We put our ethics into practice and support the causes that we care about. We believe in mutual aid and practical solidarity and have a personal history of organising and activisim.
To keep our events as accessible whilst paying bands and venue staff appropriately we keep our ticket prices low and to put on free shows when we can. We want to minimise the amount of exploitation that pervades the music industry and embrace the D.I.Y ethos.
We have a zero tolerance for ableism, homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, and violent behaviour at our events. If you act in this way you will be asked to leave.

Why get involved as a band, venue or artist?

We don’t use contracts, and work on a basis of mutual support and cooperation. As a label we can offer gig and promotional photography, media support, release planning, vinyl sourcing & distribution, help with physical merch production and sales, and networking with bands and venues across the UK. We tailor what we offer to your needs and keep expectations clear and transparent. Let us know what you’re looking for and we can work something out.

If it's physical media you can find and give it to us at one of our events at the merch stand. There is no timeline on when to expect a reply but we check our inbox daily and respond as quickly as we can.
